Overview:

This app scans the database to detect members who have registered multiple accounts at your forum, and it will list the results. The apps has 3 detection methods.

Registrations.

• All users who registered multiple accounts from the same ip address will be logged and displayed.

Logins:

• All users who who shared an ip address when logging in will be logged and displayed.

Devices a.k.a Fingerprinting

• This is the most accurate method imho.The app adds a unique cookie to members devices when they browse your forum or log in to your forum. The same goes for all newly registered members after they first create an account. The cookie expiration date is set to one year and its unique string is associated with the members device and stored in the app's table. This means if someone logs in to your forum, logs out and then logs in using another account and a different ip address, then it can tell that it was the same person. It means that person has to use same machine, same browser irrespective of the ip address he/she is using. Please note that this method will take affect only after the app has been installed.

Admin panel display:

• All 3 aforementioned logs are available in the admin panel, under the Logs section. A new area called Multiple accounts detector has been added and it available to all admins with the permissions to view Multiple accounts detector.

Front end display:

• The multiple accounts logs are also available on the front page for users with the appropriate permissions, which can be found at the Group permissions set->Multiple accounts detector.

Excluded users:

• Users can be excluded from appearing in the multiple accounts log.

Registration guardrails:

• Same ip registration limit. The number of registrations from the same ip address can be either blocked completely, or limited to a certain number. An option to exclude ip addresses from this limit is available.
• Same device registration limit. The number of registrations from the same device can be either blocked completely, or limited to a certain number. An option to exclude devices from this limit is available.

Automated registration threads:

• Whenever an user registers an account to your forum from either a device or ip address which has been used to register more than one account previously, a thread will be posted automatically at a forum of your choice listing that user's previous accounts.
• Multiple accounts detection for automated threads can be selected from the add on 's settings where you can also select the starter of the automated threads and the forum where you want those threads to be posted. The thread title and message are using phrases which can be translated or the text can be changed to suit your needs.
