XF 2.1 My site has suddenly become very slow - I changed nothing.

Loaded in less than a second (almost instantly) on every page for me. I was even using a VPN.

Slow here...

just going from .nl to .nl/index.php took a few seconds for the redirect to happen.

How are you doing the redirect? dns? htaccess or web/nginx.conf? cloudflare? with xf?

that might help diagnose where the delay is taking place.

Fairly quick when I tried. A second or two. The images load fractionally slower. Have you checked the first contentful paint load times on page speed insights? I managed to reduce mine by making home page images as webp.

It also shows diagnostics for various things that could be slowing down a site.

Did you end up doing anything or did it just resolve on its own? Site is loading quickly for me but I'm experiencing the same issue over the last couple of days and my host is telling me the server looks fine.
