To bring this back.

What about being able to mark a reply as suggestion or bug. In a table you could save threadid,postid,type

and fetch and show the specific posts in extra tabs.


You could even think about a extra column "fix/implemented" in the own table, then the addon coder would be able to manage them and mark the suggestions/bugs as fixed/implemented

Currently some addon discussion threads already have over 3000 replies. Its extremely hard to check if bugs, feature requests and questions have been addressed before. XenPorta for example has 161 pages of replies. Its pretty hard to find something in there. Search only works if the same words have been used to describe the issue. If synonyms or paraphrasing has been used in a description then search is not too useful.

It would be a big step forward if the RM would display bugs, suggestions and questions.

Once a user posts a bug in a thread, the addon author should then be able to transfer that post to the bug tracker with a click of a button.

Once the bug is fixed the, the post would then be marked as "fixed". Duplicate bugs reported in the thread could also be marked as "duplicate".

Maybe to expand on this, an "Issue Tracker" to allow labels to be applied to suggestions such as "bug" "Feature request"

I feel like this is connected but it'd be cool to, at the very least, get a second discussion thread. Keep the current one called "Discussion", then another thread for "Bug Reports". The ability for the resource author to soft-delete posts (delete non-bugs) would be a bonus but I understand that'd get into changes to the thread and post permissions and everything.

@Alpha1 or whoever wants to give more on this, give more detail on this. Would the admin or mod be adding the bug to the bug tab? Or would the end user?

End user reports: In the bug tab, the report could be pending until the admin approves it? Prefixes could be used.

You could just add a field that has its own tab. Use a rich text box for it. In the end, the admin would be the one adding to it tho.

In my view the admin would be adding them, but I guess with permissions you set it up however you like.

Ideally I'd like a button/link next to 'Report' at the bottom of any forum posts called 'Add to Tracker' that I could press, and it would then ask which resource you'd like to add it to, and then it would pre-fill the item to be tracked, with a link back to the post.

Thanks for helping with ideas. Anyone else want to add to this? I was able to get a few more things done with this.
