Thanks for the tip. My server's bot said to replace my code with this .............. for current Litespeed. Which I guess is the same as your "newer" apache code.
I think you're correct though - the version I have is for older apache and the first (newer) version you posted I should be using for Litespeed apparently. So does that mean my old syntax won't work properly?

With the Cloudflare app installed there are all kinds of goodies and extras - it shows which country the bots are from
Likewise with guests
There are also other addons people use to reduce bot crawling - someone else might have a tip there, or you might need to start a new thread about bots.
As well as this in ht.access, I have this for robots.txt (If you don't already have robots.txt). Both might help.
